Advertising ... REALLY DO WE NEED MORE (>-_-)>

Our generation has become desensitized toward advertizing. We have grown up with commercials every 10 minute, lasting for 5 minutes at a time. Our movies contain product placement, from soft drinks you whiskey, track shoes to airplanes, even poison to medicine. Because we have become so desensitized we no longer see produces but labels, we don’t see soft drinks we see Coke a Cola and Pepsi, Delta and US Air, Nike and Adidas, Tylenol and Aleve. It has gotten to the point where some games have to go out of their way to avoid product placements my renaming produce. For example, in Persona 3 the energy drink in the game is called Mad Bull, in game such as Jet Grind Radio Future, Billboard contain abstract versions of famous company logos.

The advertising in the media has gotten to the point where, false advertisement and guerrilla advertisements are more effective than the product placements. When I see a coke can in a game or I see a pizza hut box in an Anime (Code Geass), they register less and less as advertising and begin to feel like icons that are meant to be in society. Advertisements goal is to get people interested in their product and willing to invest in it. Society had drowned to consumer in so much advertisement that people begin to take note of the fake product in game more so then product placement. An example in one game you see a Sobe bottle, while in another you see this fake icon called SoMO energy, which would catch you attention the most.

With website advertising, such as www.candystand.com where manly children visit during school fails as an advertising ploy, children are swamped with advertisement more so then anyone else, and they already have it in the mind what they want. Website like candy stand are use by kids a tools for play were they are allowed to play their flash games without the school taking them away. Candy stand has been around since I was in middle school and I never paid attention to the product, but rather the game. I am not saying the advertisement in game is bad but I am saying it is not as effective due to the society we live in. I doubted there is anyone who read this that cannot name at least 50 companies advertisement this month
