reinforcing values

Games have the ability to reinforce the values that we learn in life. Our parents are impressing their values on us all the time. when we are at a young age or even when we are older. This is happening even if they are not fully realizing it. If our parents are racist it is very likely that their son/daughter is going to have some racial tendencies even if he/she isn't quite as racist as their parents. This is also true in most of the values we have. Our cultures values are also going to be impressed upon the younger generations. This is evident in the US with were some of our values might be material comfort, wealth, individualism, and religiosity.

These values can then be reinforced through the use of games. The game designer will impart some of his ideals and values onto the game subconsciously or consciously. The player will then take some of these values and they will reinforce what he has already learned or possibly learn new values. the values that the game designer can contradicted what the player has already learned and it can then reinforce what the player already knows if the values are portrayed in a poor fashion or the values can be even ignored by the player. However games do have values if the game is designed to or not. The values can be good or even bad. But they are there and the player will take something away from the experience of playing the game.
